Actually, Jon, that question doesn’t need to be answered. It answers itself.

Republicans must think Black people (and Latin@ people and LGBT people and every other group they’re trying to “outreach” to) are fucking stupid that they would actually ignore the recent history of the Republican party and vote GOP because one hundred and fifty years ago a Republican did something halfway decent. “Well, sure, the GOP consistently proposes laws that systematically marginalize me and people like me, and their current opinions on ‘states rights’ are the exact opposite of what Lincoln said, but HEY they once elected some Black people so I guess they must be ok! Rand Paul/Chris Christie 2016!” Really? Really?

In their defense, I suppose, Republicans must be fucking stupid to not know about that whole thing where Democrats used to be the conservative party and Republicans used to be the liberal party and that has kind of changed a little bit. History: only important when they think it will fool people into voting for them.

I have been thinking that I would make a proposition to my Republican friends… that if they will stop telling lies about the Democrats, we will stop telling the truth about them. ~Adlai Stevenson

So Republicans immediately claimed that Obama is going for a “power-grab” ahead of the election with today’s announcement his administration will stop deportations and begin granting work permits for some Dream Act-eligible students. I have no doubt that electoral timing…

Rick Santorum launched a new website and we need to tumblr bomb it!! ›

iamateenagefeminist:

Rick Santorum has launched a new “campaign” to help get Obama out of office. This is the official website. It features a poll asking people what they think about Obama. I think it would be hilarious if we got it to read “very favorable”.

Come on tumblr! Bomb this poll!!

Twenty-five years ago, 62 percent of Republicans and 79 percent of Democrats said the government should take care of people who can’t take care of themselves. Today, 75 percent of Democrats agree with that statement, but the percentage of Republicans who agree has plummeted to 40 percent.

A new Pew study shows that politics — even more than race or gender — is now the greatest divider in the United States. (via washingtonpoststyle)
